Math in a New Way
Ryan Dougherty, Math Curriculum Coordinator, for Marvin Elementary School visited Ms. Dover's 3rd grade class to teach a lesson on shapes. Students were studying polygons, angles, and triangles in their course of study. Ryan shared with them new ways to think about shapes. Students were able to compare and contrast shapes by dividing them into groups by size, number of sides, angles, and what type of polygon they represented. He also visited and shared this lesson with the other 3rd grade classes. The students enjoyed studying in small groups and were excited to study math in a new way.
