Tractor Driving Contest

Parkwood High School Winning Team Members and advisor, Mitch Bryant

On November 1st, 2010, Parkwood High School placed lst in the Senior Tractor Driving Competition held at Forest Hills High School.  Participants from high schools across the county learned the importance of truck and tractor safety.

Students were judged on following proper safety procedures. Drivers were required to maneuver through an obstacle course made out of cones and painted lines, back down an alley and into a shed.  Students were allowed to drive hydrostatic tractors using the latest technology enhanced equipment.  The truck driving contest is similar to the tractor without the trailor.

The winning team members were:  Chance Brantley, Richie Bowers, Josh Bost and Anthony Deese.  Chance Brantley placed lst in the individual competition and will represent Union County at the state competition in Raleigh.

Agriculture teacher, Mitch Bryant, said, "Driving a tractor is fun and easy...as long as you keep safety in the picture."

The tractors were provided by Brooks Tractor and Equipment Sales.  The truck was donated by Hendricks Chevrolet.
