Mrs. Rowell's Kindergarten Class Learns about India!
Tuesday, November 16, Mrs. Rowell’s kindergarten class from Fairview Elementary school welcomed the Lala Family to share about their native country of India. The Lala’s have two children that attend Fairview, Ashutosh in Mrs. Rowell’s class and Pria in Mrs. Shelly’s fifth grade class.
The Lala’s presented facts about India. They brought artifacts, talked about transportation in India, pictures of their visit to the Taj Mahal, and shared about one of India’s famous festivals called Diwali. One of the highlights of the presentation was when all the little girls in the class got to wear sarees and bangle bracelets. Pria helped with the presentation as well. She shared about their trip to India this past summer.
Before the Lala’s left, they gave each child a treat bag with Indian cookies, a rupy (the currency of India) and, a stamp with Gandhi on it. The children were so pleased to learn and have this hands on experience. The Lala’s have already planned to come back to Mrs. Rowell’s class for India’s Kite Day Festival in January!
