Thanksgiving Came Early This Year!

Members of the Parkwood community enjoy an early Thanksgiving meal.

Parkwood was dressed up and prepared to celebrate Thanksgiving on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. "We reached out to our community and invited senior citizens from area churches that fed our teams pregame meals throughout the year to enjoy Thanksgiving lunch with us," principal Jan Hollis commented.

It was a schoolwide project aimed at showing the community how much their support is appreciated.  About 40 senior citizens attended and dined on turkey, dressing, gravy, salad, green beans, sweet potatoe casserole and spice cake made by the cafeteria staff as students from the National Honor Society served the meal.  Art teacher, Janette Austin, and Family Consumer Sciences teacher, Tonie Allen made table decorations that were supplemented by plants brought in from Lowes by Agriculture teacher Sam Robinson.

Parkwood plans another meal for the spring to celebrate the community and welcome its members to become a part of building Parkwood Pride!
