Learning the Japanese Culture Here at Antioch
Mr. Barrett writes, "The culture kits that we received through UNC are a great way to introduce some actual things from the country we are studying. For students to actually hold Japanese money, see traditional clothes, listen to music, play with toys and see Japanese writing it's truly exciting for them. The kits are only available for the school to use on a very limited time basis... As a community here at Antioch we can simply create our own culture kits from all of the countries we have visited. The artifacts in the Japanese box are the same kind of souvenirs that I collected while I lived in Japan... It's the simplest and best way to introduce other cultures to our students, particularly if the student or parent is from another country. It's a way for them to be proud of their heritage and make a lasting impression here at Antioch."
