2010 Spelling Bee
BHESA held its annual Spelling Bee on November 30 in the school auditorium. Students from each homeroom in grades three through five participated in the event.
Mr. Casstevens, Artsâ€™ Coordinator, pronounced words, gave definitions, and used works in a sentence if requested by contestants. Judges were Mrs. Zmuda, AIG teacher, Mrs. Kennedy, teacher, and Mrs. Ayala, assistant. The bee lasted for three rounds. The winning word was â€œcelery.â€
Congratulations to Henry Helms, the 2010 Spelling Bee winner, and to Austin Maske, the first runner-up.
All participants in the spelling bee received a crossword puzzle book, pencil, and pencil gripper. Henry Helms received the gift bag, a trophy, as well as a yearâ€™s subscription to kidsbritannica.com. Austin received a trophy as well as the gift bag.
Henry will represent BHESA in the countywide spelling bee in January at CATA.
