Archived Stories for Union County Public Schools
BHESA students were treated with very special guests this week. On Tuesday, bagpipers come to our school and walked the hallways playing their bagpipes. Students very quickly began to appreciate the sounds of the bagpipes as they clapped their hands and tapped their feet to the rhythms.
On Thursday, Jackie and Jaime Pressley, natives of Scotland, visited our campus. Mr. Pressley shared a bit of Scotland's history with first, third, and fifth graders, while they watched a slide show of Scotland. Mr. Pressley explained his attire to students, including details about his kilt, brogues (shoes), and sporran (purse).
Mr. and Mrs. Pressley then performed several Scottish dances for students. Students were invited to get a partner and join the Pressleys in a dance. Over one hundred students took to the floor & danced to the Scottish music.
Mr. and Mrs. Pressley have lived in the United States since 1983. We are grateful for Mrs. Liz Benavides arranging these presentations for our students.
