We Reached Our Food Drive Goal

Mrs. Webb and Mr. Nixon "Chicken Dance" with students.

Almost 1000 food items will be donated to Operation Reach Out through Western Union Elementary's annual Food Drive that took place November 1-22.

As a special reward our principal, Mrs. Webb, agreed to wear a "special outfit" if we reached our school wide goal of 860 cans.  Since we well exceeded our goal, Mr. Nixon, agreed to join in on the fun.  The classroom that collected the largest percentage of items, Mrs. Sarah O'Connor's, earned the right to choose a special outfit to be worn by Mr. Nixon.  The students chose a lovely, inflatable ballerina -- complete with tutu and blonde wig for him.  Mrs. Jennifer Dobbins' class came in 2nd place and chose a soft, fluffly chicken suit for Mrs. Webb to wear.

Mrs. Webb and Mr. Nixon went to every classroom and did the "chicken dance."  The students were very tickled by their appearance.

We are very appreciative of our families for giving their best in sending in the food items.  Thank you!
