Band is Named WCNC Band of the Season

The Piedmont Marching Band was named the WCNC Band of the Season on Thursday, December 2 after a week-long online voting campaign. The band received 34% of the 13,195 votes cast and earned a live spot on WCNC’s Friday Night Frenzy aired at 11:15 p.m. The band performed a promotional song of “The Grinch” and were then greeted by one of the host’s of Friday Night Frenzy as cameras circulated during the band’s live performance of “September” and the Piedmont fight song. 

The announcement of WCNC Band of the Season was made at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 2. The band immediately began making plans to travel to the WCNC studios where they would record a performance at  9:00 p.m. and would then appear live at 11:15 during their Friday Night Frenzy segment. The band was treated to hot chocolate and a meet-and-greet with some of the news personalities while at the WCNC studios. 

At the conclusion of the live performance, David Clouse accepted the trophy for Band of the Season. When asked what this meant to the band, Senior Kristina Drye replied, “It was a great experience and it gave us verification of the hard work we have put in this season. It was a sense of closure for the accomplishments of our entire band season.”
