New Salem held Field Day 2008

New Salem’s entire school population participated in its Olympic-themed Field Day celebration held last semester. Students went home exhausted after a full day of relay races, obstacle courses, water balloon tossing and more.

As part of the closing ceremonies of New Salem’s field day celebration, guidance counselor Kerri Mosley agreed to allow the school’s top Boxtops winners to turn her into an ice cream sundae. She had ice cream and all the toppings poured on her, including the cherry on top. The students raised $2,426.76 in Boxtops this year. For more pictures, see the school’s Archives.

The closing ceremony also included teacher Jacob Surratt fulfilling the promises made to students during the school’s Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser.

Surratt spent the night in a tent on the front lawn, dressed up as a woman, colored his hair pink, kissed a pig, and had pies thrown in his face by the top fundraisers. The students raised $4,700 this year. For more pictures, see the school’s  Archives.
