Union County Board of Education members sworn in last night
Three new members and an incumbent were sworn in during last night’s regular monthly meeting of the Union County Board of Education.
Incumbent Dean Arp (District 3) and new board members Sherry Hodges (At Large), Marce Savage (District 6) and Rick Pigg (District 4) took their oaths of office at the start of the Board of Education meeting held last night (Dec. 7, 2010) at Sun Valley Middle School.
The board then unanimously voted for Arp to continue his position as chairman, and then unanimously voted for John Collins (District 5) to return in his role as vice chairman.
Arp said he was honored to serve as chairman again, and appreciated the vote of confidence that was given him by being reelected. He added that he is excited about the new board. Collins said he too was honored and humbled by the vote.
Arp and Collins have held the chairman and vice-chair seats now for the third term (since 2006). These positions are elected every two years.
