Holiday Fun for Senior Citizens

Fighting the frigid temperatures, senior citizens embarked on Piedmont High School for the annual Senior Citizen Breakfast on Tuesday, December 14. The event is sponsored by the Interact Club but involves many other clubs and organizations, including the National Art Honor Society, chorus, ROTC, and drama classes. This year, seniors enjoyed a hearty breakfast of eggs, grits, biscuits and fruit while being entertained with songs of the season presented by the ladies chorus. Dr. Ann Walters and student elves led the singing of the 12 Days of Christmas and then everyone enjoyed several rounds of Cringo (Christmas Bingo).

Following the festivities in the cafeteria, seniors were then treated to a drama performance of “A Christmas Carol” presented by the Theatre classes under the direction of drama teacher Allison Sanderson. Principal Jonathan Bowers expressed the importance of this event in his opening remarks by saying, “This event has been a tradition for the Piedmont community for 25 years and students and staff look forward to this day each year.”
