Weddington Health Occupations Students Spread Holiday Cheer
The Weddington High School Health Occupations students provided a bit of holiday cheer to those in need this holiday season. In November, the club collected over $70.00 to purchase a Thanksgiving dinner for a needy family. The family was recommended by Matthews Help Center. Lexie Woodard, Alexia Schemitz and club advisor Janet Brower shopped at the Harris Teeter in Wesley Chapel and delivered the food to the center.
The club took on the challenge of providing Christmas stockings to Union County foster children. Little did they know that there were 71 children needing stockings! The club members donated 46 stockings. The remaining stockings were donated by members of Mu Alpha Theta and their sponsor Nancy Pate; members of the FCCLA and their sponsor Sandy Leggett, Coach Lyerly and Women's Softball as well as the English and Math departments. The stockings were delivered for distribution at the Foster Children's Christmas Party on December 13.
