Barbies for Barbee
Patti Barbee, attendance counselor at Piedmont, retired on December 17 in the midst of an office full of Barbie dolls. Staff members donated Barbie dolls in honor of Mrs. Barbee's 10 years of service, which were then donated in her honor to the Union County Christmas Bureau. Mrs. Barbee reported that she had never had a Barbie doll and it was a great surprise to find an office full of them! Piedmont students and staff wish Mrs. Barbee a very happy retirement and want to thank her for her dedicated service to the Piedmont community.
Prior to working at Piedmont High School, Mrs. Barbee worked as an attendance counselor at Piedmont Middle School. Her career with Union County Schools has also involved working at South Providence in Waxhaw and working in the Exceptional Children's program at the Career Center. She has been employed with UCPS for 25 years!
Mrs. Barbee lives in the Piedmont community and has two sons, Jody and Michael, who both graduated from Piedmont High School. When asked what her plans are for retirement, she replied "I want to get invovled with the guardian program for at-risk youth who are involved with the criminal justice program. I also want to spend a lot of time with my mother who is really sick and I want to put my feet up on the coffee table!"
