1st Graders are Sharing Their Writing

First graders in Mrs. Hill's and Mrs. Pound's class recently shared their writing with the community.  During the Thanksgiving holiday, they shared their favorite fall memories with the residents at Union Park Nursing Center in Monroe, NC.  The students really enjoyed writing for their new friends.  In class, the students talked about getting their writing out of the school and to people that would enjoy fresh, new writings.  The students decided to make placemats and write a favorite memory or a letter to Santa to share with others in the community.  The placemats were decorated, and the stories were written with their new audience in mind.  The placemats were hand delivered to Hillcrest Nursing Center in Monroe on December 16th.  The residents were excited to receive their very own holiday placemat to read and enjoy.  The students were excited to share their writing and make new friends.
