WHS Spanish Honor Society partners with "Mi Casa, Su Casa"

During the winter break, Weddington students Laura Morse, Alyssa Sharpe, and Drew Goins represented the Spanish Honor Society with a trip to “Mi Casa, Su Casa” to deliver over fifty gifts purchased with funds raised by members of the club. Each Spanish Honor Society member picked the name of a child to buy a gift for, based on their age, to make the donations more personal. “Mi Casa, Su Casa” is a charity organization for underprivileged Hispanic people living in Charlotte.
The Spanish Honor Society officers, who were accompanied by Sra. Martínez, were able to meet the event organizers as well as the families and children receiving the gifts. The gift recipients were incredibly grateful to all the club members for the presents, and to “Mi Casa, Su Casa” for the traditional Christmas tamales given out. “It was a great experience,” said Laura. “It was a chance to practice Spanish, but more importantly, help out the community.”
