Jackets Ready to Think Pink
Forest Hills High School Varsity Cheerleaders will be hosting their first "Think Pink" night on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 to support the fight against cancer. The Jackets will have t-shirts for sale for $15 at the basketball game that night as well as Friday through Tuesday during lunches at school with all proceeds going to cancer research. Their goal is to raise $1,000 this first time.
They are also having a survivor walk during the half-time of the varsity boys' game. They invite all survivors of all types of cancer to join them by 8:00 pm so that they may participate in doing a victory lap to make the community more aware of how many people are really affected by these horrible diseases. Any survivor that wants to walk is welcome to wear the color that demonstrates the cancer they defeated. This is not only for breast cancer, though the name of the event is "Think Pink."
If cancer survivors are interested in participating in the survivor walk, they should call the school at 704-233-4001 to give their names to the front office staff so that the school can waive their ticket entrance fee at the gate.
Varsity Cheerleading Coach Michelle Black said, "We would like to make it an annual event, and we look forward to selling many of you some great t-shirts!"
