PRMS principal named Middle School Administrator of the Year
Porter Ridge Middle School Principal Tim Conner has won the North Carolina Middle School Association's (NCMSA) Region 6 2011 Administrator of the Year award.
Conner was surprised by the news at a staff meeting at his school Wednesday, (Feb. 2, 2011).
One outstanding Middle Level Administrator is chosen by the organization's Regional Awards Committee from each of the eight NCMSA regions and will be recognized at a general session of the NCMSA Annual Conference in March.
“It was a real surprise,†Conner said. “I am just overwhelmed. It’s a really great honor to win an award like this. It has to do with the people I surround myself with.â€
The award is given to "an individual who has demonstrated outstanding performance in his contributions to the middle level program in his school, effectiveness as a member of the administrative staff, utilization and support of middle school best practices, innovative projects and impact on the school and communication with the educational environment," according to the NCMSA's criteria for the award.
“On behalf of Central Administration, I want to congratulate you on this award,†said Superintendent Dr. Ed Davis. “You are an outstanding school leader and you’ve done a wonderful job of leading this school. You embraced this community and they have embraced you.â€
Conner has been an educator since 1974. He began his career in Grand Island, Nebraska as a fifth-grade teacher. He has been a principal since 1984. He came to Union County in 2005 when he took on the role at principal at Porter Ridge Middle School the year the school opened.
