Wonderful Winter Cheer

Students in the After School Care Program made bagel bird feeders.

We all know that the winter months can be very long and dreary due to the lack of color and warmth from the sun.  However, Rhoda Marx’s first grade class brought some color and activity just outside their classroom window.

With the assistance from Trish Cardella, Waxhaw Elementary Garden Committee Chair, in preparing the garden beds, first grader students were able to plant winter pansies outside our classroom window.

“We are thankful for our PTA Volunteers!” said Mrs. Marx.

Following the first graders' planting of pansies, students in Waxhaw Elementary's After School Care Program  made bird feeders from bagels, peanut butter and birdseed.  They hung these near the pansies to attract the winter birds common to this area.

Now we have some beautiful sights outside our windows...  birds and colorful flowers!
