Union County Public Schools has received the Carol M. White Physical Education Program Grant. The grant spans a 3 year period. Benton Heights School of the Arts received it for the third year (2011-2012 school year). The grant, worth $5,068, will be used for the purchase of physical education equipment and staff development for our Physical Education teacher. Mrs. Creech, Assistant Principal, and Mr. Casstevens, Arts Coordinator, wrote the grant.

The goal of the grant is to increase the amount of physical activity our students receive each day. Additionally, it is the hope that by increasing the amount of activity students have during the school day that the number of students who fall in the overweight or obese range will decrease. The equipment purchased will be available to classroom teachers during daily recess periods.
