Lona Bartlett Visits
For the Kindergarten and first grade classes, she used puppets to entertain the students. She, at first, introduced Little Tiger and Scrubirilla. Her focus for these grades was on following directions, listening, taking responsibility and natural consequences. She also included a component about being part of a family. For the second and third graders, she also used Little Tiger, but she introduced her very large face puppets. Here she used some audience members to tell a story about the senses. She also talked about poetry, inclusion, and tolerance. For the fourth and fifth grade performance, she used the audience as human puppets to explain the origin behind the name of Charlotte, NC, and Mecklenberg County. She also told them a "scary" story! She had the audience thoroughly rapt in attention the whole time, and did a wonderful job. A special thanks to Amelie Schoel for heading up this program and the Love the Arts Day/Night events.
