Weddington Elementary's Second Annual Global Week

Our main hallway displays the flags of the countries being studied throughout the school.

Customs, cuisines and clothing from around the globe will be on display for Weddington Elementary’s 2nd Annual Global Week, March 21-25, 2011. Our kickoff for this special week will be on Monday, March 21. We will have two performances in the gym (Grades 3-5: 8:30-9:30; Grades K-2: 9:45-10:45) which will feature visiting performers representing different countries of the world.

The week will continue with guest exhibitors bringing their countries to life for us. Two exhibitors will be available Tuesday-Friday to describe life and customs in the country they represent. Many will wear traditional attire as they speak about location, climate, foods and clothing. Several displays will include artifacts, hands-on-items, or activities to capture students’ attention.

In addition, the outside of each classroom will be decorated with representations of their particular country. The cafeteria is also participating in our global emphasis by featuring foods from different countries throughout the week.
