Parkwood Promotes Being Physically Fit

View of the fitness room’s bikes, rowing machines, treadmills, and elliptical machines.

Fitness is catching on at Parkwood High School. This year Parkwood received a grant to buy new workout equipment for the students and staff to use. Assistant principal, Joan Roman, said, “The new fitness room is a great opportunity to promote fitness for students and staff.”

Physical Education classes are incorporating strength training into their curriculum to help students become more active and be physically fit. Not only are students learning to live a healthier lifestyle, but they are also learning how to safely use the equipment.

Parkwood has provided numerous training classes for the staff as well. Once teachers have completed the safety training class, they are allowed to use the equipment before and after school. This new room is just the beginning of a healthier Parkwood!
