Cavaliers Adopt a Highway
Seventeen members of the Principal's Advisory Council joined CHS Principal, Mr. Rob Jackson, in picking up litter along both sides of almost two miles of New Town Road on March 12, 2011. 37 bags of litter were collected. The group was joined by CHS parents; Mr. and Mrs. Mitarotondo, Mrs. LaFrance; and Mr. Jackson's sons. The CHS Beta Club and the CHS Environmental Club have both adopted nearby roadways as part of the Department of Transportation's "Adopt-a-Highway" program.
When asked, Mr. Jackson, replied, "CHS student, Alyssa Mitarotondo, had grown concerned that litter had begun to collect along this section of New Town Road, and spear-headed the Council's efforts to make a difference. I am incredibly proud of the 17 students who gave up a part of their Saturday to pick-up after others. They truly showed our Cavalier spirit."
