Cavs Celebrate Foreign Language Week
Ni Hao! Guten Tag! Hola! Bonjour! During the week of March 7-11, 2011, Cuthbertson High School celebrated different languages and cultures from around the world for Foreign Language Week. From making German music videos to making French beignets for breakfast, the CHS Foreign Language Week was filled with fun activities.
In the mornings, students made announcements in foreign languages to help celebrate. Monday was door decorating day. Classes decorated their doors according to their language. First place went to Mrs. Bailey. On Tuesday students made music videos and showed them during lunch while Mrs. White’s Media Production class voted on the winners. Seniors Josh Epifanio and Cody Esser came in first place with their Spanish song, “Ave Maria.†Seniors Laura Jendretzki and Kim Amzler came in second place with their German song, “Monstaâ€.
On Wednesday, the French, Spanish, and German clubs sponsored a teacher breakfast. They made beignets and had fruit and croissants. Thursday was costume day where everyone dressed up according to their language. On Friday, the final event of Foreign Language Week was the annual soccer game between the Mademoiselle Helms' French classes, Senor Rosene’s, Senora Bailey’s and Senor Rivera's Spanish classes, and Herr Sellner’s German classes. Foreign Language week was not just about learning languages of the world, it was also about celebrating the cultures and having fun while doing it!
