Marvin Holds it's First International Festival

With passports in hand, Marvin Elementary students traveled through 6 continents and nearly 25 countries! The school’s first International Festival made this journey possible. The gymnasium was transformed into the continents of the world with colorful flags, banners, and displays. Students viewed exhibits of artifacts from all over loaned by Marvin families, along with items created in the classrooms. Parent volunteers did a wonderful job explaining the artifacts and important facts about the countries and continents. This gala event also included performances by Marvin students. Fourth and fifth grade singers performed ‘Global Journey’ – a medley of songs from all over the world; we had Greek dancers; Irish dancers; and two groups demonstrating dances from India. The performances were a delightful way to end a very special day.

Many thanks to all who helped make this event a success: parent volunteers; parents of performers; Lisa Freeman from the PTA Cultural Arts committee; and the staff members of the Marvin ES Global Awareness Committee.
