Mad Science Comes to Antioch

As part of our annual school auction, the PTO arranged for a Mad Scientist, only known as Miss Wizard, to come entertain the students during the auction.  The program was geared toward children from 4-12 years of age.  Miss Wizard's focus was on fire and ice!  Not only did the students have an entertaining time, they also learned principles of science.  The program is developed and delivered by educators and uses an inquiry-based learning style.  According to the Mad Scientist brochure, "We have FUN down to a science!

Miss Wizard performed several experiments using fire, flash paper, dry ice and some special chemicals.  She also told the groups not to try this at home due to safety issues.  We were glad that she used goggles, gloves, and other safety measures to keep herself and us safe!  She even gave a few of the students a shower using dry ice, hot water, soap and her really cool machine!
