WHS Finalists for the National Merit Scholarship

Courtney Hewitt and Meredith McCray

CONGRATULATIONS TO COURTNEY HEWITT AND MEREDITH MCCRAY! Both girls are Finalists for the National Merit Scholarship, a non-profit organization that awards scholarships to students with high PSAT scores. Of the 1.5 million students, only 15,000 are selected to be Finalists. Winners of the scholarship will be chosen from this small group by late May.
Both Courtney and Meredith plan to attend Auburn University this upcoming fall semester on the college’s Presidential Scholarship. After learning of both girls’ successes, Mr. Breedlove commented, “I am very happy to see that the hard work for both Courtney Hewitt and Meredith McCray pay off for them…To be selected to this elite group is an honor and as principal of Weddington High School I am humbled by both Courtney’s and Meredith’s work ethic and success. They both will go on to represent our school well as alumni.”
Congratulations, Courtney and Meredith! Weddington High School applauds your successes and wishes you both good luck in the future!
