Under the Big Top

Prekindergarten students perform on stage for their families.

The two prekindergarten classes at East Elementary enjoyed learning about the circus so much, the teachers decided to extend the unit and make it the theme for Prekindergarten Family Night.

Prekindergarten teacher Jacqueline Morris said, "We read the book Under the Big Top and the students just couldn't get enough."

The kids rehearsed a routine for the stage every other day for a month and even had a dress rehearsal.  On the evening of Thursday, March 31st,  PK students, their families and other members of the school community felt as if they were "under the big top" at a circus as the adorable youngsters  performed onstage as lions, seals, clowns, strong men and acrobats.

Refreshments such as those you would find at the circus, like popcorn and hotdogs, were served to those in attendance. A fun evening was had by all.
