Monroe Middle School hosted its first Literary Celebration earlier this month, an event intended to recognize all of the hard work that teachers and students put into its Readers' and Writers' workshop.

Students and teachers took part in various activities, such as reading camp-out time, movie time, book murals and newspaper activities. In addition to these activities, many of Monroe Middle’s teachers took part in dressing up as their favorite book characters.

Some of the costumes were quite elaborate, such as Monroe Middle’s drama teacher Brian Holloway who looked like a swashbuckling buccaneer.

Students saw characters such as Snow White, Mother Goose, Captain Hook and Dr. Seuss. It was such fun, that Monroe Middle hopes to continue with these celebrations throughout the school year.
