3rd grade celebrates their published books
The Third Grade Classes met in the school media center to celebrate their hard work and stories published in a hard bound format. Excitement flowed through the room as small groups formed by a student from each of the four classrooms read and shared their illustrations. A student in Mrs. Goodman’s class stated “I love how I could write my own story and have a published copy to show to my family.â€
All students at Union Elementary utilized the writing process to write stories or poems that were submitted by Mrs. Belinda Goodman to Nationwide Learning, LLC for publishing through their Student Treasures program. Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Graders helped to write a class book for publication. Each class received a free copy and students had the opportunity to purchase a copy for themselves. Students in Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth grades published individual books. Each student received a free copy of their book and had the opportunity to purchase additional copies for their family.
Our Art teacher, Ms. Woods, helped the students illustrate their books with different instructional lessons such as establishing the foreground and background. Writing Celebrations were held to celebrate our young authors and their hard work at each grade level and books were sent home to be enjoyed before Spring Break.
